What happens when you hire Folie FX?
The key is to prep ahead. When you hire Folie FX, we get to work behind the scenes, making sure to think of all possible scenarios ahead of time, so that there are no surprises on set.
We get to work in our Folie FX workshop ahead of the shoot date, drawing the tattoo as it would be designed in real life.
When the drawing and a colour study is complete, the stencil is then created. This is the most important thing to ensure things run nice and smooth on your shoot day. With all the other obstacles figured out before hand, Folie FX are able to then give 100% focus on the application days making sure your faux tattoos look as real as possible.
Made with real tattoos in mind, tackling real obstacles of how they will fit the person and flow with their body, keeping in mind how real tattoos heal on certain areas and recreating this to achieve a realistic outcome. The end goal is to fool the eye, we want someone to be able to see our faux tattoos and believe that the tattoo is real. With the shift in camera technology, we know how important it is to achieve a level of quality that looks on par with the real thing.
All tried and tested, we use only skin safe inks, and with proper aftercare and depending on the areas, our faux tattoos can last up to 7 days. This depends on the area of the body, low traffic areas stay longer, whereas areas that see a lot more contact will leave sooner. Avoiding getting them wet and moisturising will give them a longer life span, and whenever you want to remove it, alcohol will do the job.
Ange
Ange has been tattooing for over 16 years now, and got into the industry from a young age after doodling designs for her big brother to get tattooed. From this point, she became obsessed with the idea of being able to create custom designs for people and drew and drew until the hard work paid off.
Having worked in some of the top London tattoo studios during her career, aswell as tattoo conventions, Ange found these were the perfect places to get used to working under pressure whilst remembering to have fun. Funnily enough, not dissimilar to creating faux tattoos on set.
When Ange isn’t tattooing, she’s making art in other ways. The main two being pencils on wood, and airbrush. The fascination with airbrushing is how the seed of Folie FX was planted, and eventually Ange began seeing how much she could fool the eye into thinking an airbrush tattoo is a real one. And who better to create the tattoos you see on screen than someone whose whole world has been drawing and tattooing, with the understanding of different styles, how tattoos flow best with the body, and how they heal on different areas over time.

Cam
Cam’s first introduction to make-up was back in Brazil, spending her teenage years doing SFX makeup for friends on halloween. From then on, her passion for the arts has continued to flourish. This naturally led into a love for cosplaying where Cam hasn’t stopped creating her own versions of different characters, learning how to build props, sew and find new ways to perfect her make-up skills with different techniques. These tools have led to Cam’s ability to craft realistic fake tattoos that seamlessly integrate with the wearer's skin, creating an authentic, camera-ready finish. Whether it's matching skin tone, simulating texture, or ensuring a comfortable wear, her unique blend of make-up and cosplay experience ensures exceptional results.
With a great ability to think on her feet when unexpected issues arise, keeping calm and focused, Cam understands the importance of what it takes to have things run smoothly both behind the scenes, and on set.
